Almost there

I have purchased my plane ticket and my spot in the program so I am almost ready to go. Tara is still mulling some things over about this specific program but volunteering is still her goal as well. Donations are still being excepted and very much appreciated and as for donations I would like to thank a few of my family members and friends for their contributions
Thanks To:

Mary Christian for her generous contribution and support. I love you very much and could not wish for a more loving and caring grandmother

Lori and Dusty Leavitt for their donation and I am so grateful. You could not find a more kinder pair than these two.

Jane Greer for her contribution and best wishes. You are so wonderful and thanks again for your support.

Janice and Ed for their wonderful traveling gifts that will absolutely make some of the difficulties of traveling dissolve.

Holly Sutton from Keller Williams Real Estate for her kind wishes and congratulations. They were very thoughtful and appreciated.

This volunteer journey was made a lot more easier with all of your help and may good karma fall upon you all.

Namaste Mary Johnson

Read All About It!

If you were not brought to this blog because of our article, then you should look for us into today's edition of The Park Record. If you wish to read about it online, then click on the following link: http://www.parkrecord.com/ci_12379888. As of yet, we are still working on fund raising ideas. However, we have already received some offers for donations in exchange for babysitting and we are open to any other odd jobs you can think of. Anyone who donates to the cause will have there name posted. E-mail us with any questions! taralkeene@yahoo.com or maryjohnson05@live.com.

Thanks to the Park Record!

I almost forgot to thank Alisha Self and the Park Record for their help. Alisha donated her time to us and is the one responsible for the article coming out in the paper. Thanks so much to Alisha and David (photographer) for their time and support. We really appreciate it.

First Blog

Tara Keene and myself, Mary Johnson, have decided to start this blog in order to keep people up to date on our progress. Our goal is to raise $5,000 in order to live in India for one month and teach orphans English. The cost is great due to the Real Gap program and the flights are not cheap either which is why we require many donations. Every one who donates will be recognized on this blog. For now we are excepting donations by mail at my home address which is:
Mary Johnson
1950 Parleys Loop
Francis, UT 84036
or
Tara Keene
4670 Nelson Ct
Park City, UT 84098
We hope to set up a Pay Pal account to make it more efficient but till then...
Today Tara and I had our photos taken for the Park Record that will be attached to our article asking for donations. The article should come out this Saturday so be sure to pick one up. Our plans for the weekend are to go door to door as a small step in getting things done and we have some other things in mind. One, that I particularly like, is an idea Tara's mom actually came up with. To put our love for children to good use, we are going to have some friends join us as we take neighborhood kids out for a kind of day camp experience. We want to play games, maybe go to a movie and we will be responsible for the kids for the whole day. We would maybe ask for a payment of $15 but more donations will be welcome. For now, all we have set in stone is the article and the door to door. We are going to be putting up fliers and updating this blog in order to keep everyone in the loop of things. Thanks for your interest and support!

p.s. Be sure to read more when Tara posts the next blog!
